The Pinocchio of our Nation.

Yes we all do it, maybe a little and maybe a lot but somehow only a few of us can blow it out of proportion. There are those who can’t put a brake on it and then keep on going like a car out of control, well a car that might plunge down from the top of a mountain. It’s not easy for anybody to look away from a car wreck. There’s this bit to see, and the next and that part.

Oh yes. Simply to be put lets take a look at most uncontrollable freak show of our President. We all have come to understand and witness the pile of lies that keeps growing with the spree of elections. We’ve all seen the show before and yet why are we being fed the stinky crap all over again? Let me give you a small briefing on how we (Some Maldivians) swallowed the shit.

It all began once upon a time, by creating a party system. Mind you, we were advised that such a system can destroy the social harmony of such a small nation as ours. However, most saw it as a ploy by the old man who ruled the country for 30 years. Yes, by that time we had come to believe that every single word out of the old man’s mouth was for the safeguard of his very own position and we will have none of it. After a roar of voices and convincing speeches, a stamp of heavenly approval of the party system was blossoming in the very narrow minds of our people. There were visions of bridges, high speed highways, low rent, spacious homes and for some, the thought of free electricity and water! True.

Few years ago, we had “respect” for elders and neighbors, strangers and friends. A few will be found yelling filth down the road and people will shake their heads and shrug. The society grew up with the message, never to become a nuisance and a menace to society. However, some didn’t have the level of decent education and for them joining a political party was an opportunity to get noticed. When they tried to convey constructive criticism, it came out as verbal harassment and suddenly they got the attention they had never before got in their life time. Thus, social harmony was flushed down the toilet with the demonstrations, riots and every noisy act of theirs giving the young generation a wrong message.

We all wanted to experience a change, but not the way we are now. It’s only been a few months after Mohamed Nasheed (Anni) took office but already we have heard the song too many times and enough is enough! Now that the Parliament elections are approaching, he’s shooting off his mouth. They think they have to tell us what we want to hear to get elected, they do what they can, to make big money from the lobbies and help out the corporations, not us. We pay them well and they get to give themselves raises, the best health plans and pension plans that money can buy. They also get good pension schemes when they retire.

The truth about the way this nation is run is so awful and geared to serve a few selfish agendas that if the truth kept being let out then people would eventually completely reject the system. So the system does what ever it can to survive, one way is give liars careers and honest, educated people, the sack.
For uncontrollable freaks there’s always a bitter end. We have witnessed how it began, we are witnessing how it’s really going on, and we will hopefully see it to the end. In the meantime, every time his foot touches the soil of the islands, we know deep inside, it’s going to be the same old story: flats, flats, flats. He can really preach, like Rasputin, don’t you think?

Yes, politicians are liars.

Life without expectations…

The cause of so much tragedy in our lives is we fail to understand our friends, relations and family members to what they are and expect them to our level of desire. Let us accept and understand them as they are.

Sometimes there are ridiculous expectations, however, these expectations becomes a cause of motivation, because whenever the expectations are not met, it requires digging down deep inside and accessing resources to meet them. Only problems comes when those expectations have been placed on others who don't demonstrate any desire to meet them.

Practically it is not possible to live life without expectation. Religiously, God expect us to be good and pray and so we also have some expectation of rewards.
As humans, we work to earn. We work with expectation of salary, promotions, skill recognition and resources to help us do our work. It’s the same with relationships.

Depending on my experience and what I have seen and learned from others, I am here to tell you that it really is not that simple. The path of life is somewhat more complex than that. A person is required to develop a direction in life in order to realize true happiness. If your path is related to taking care of your family, or to care for the elderly, while making a living in some field of expertise, your path will be different from one who has chosen to become an entrepreneur while also trying to care for his/her family. You need to decide how much and what you want from life in order to develop an investment plan to get there.

We as human beings have a lot of expectations in life. These may be personal expectations or things that others expect of us. A parent sends a child to school expecting him/her to become a better citizen. Many times you have heard a student saying, “I wrote the correct answers and how can I fail?” It is because this student expected to get better marks. Maldivians elected Mohamed Nasheed (Anni) as President because they expect him to bring favorable change to Maldives. When it comes to expectations the list is endless.

Expectations can also strengthen or break relationships. We have witnessed several cases in which expectations have created big rifts between families, lovers, etc. We have often found it difficult to live with people because we have too many expectations of them. If I expect something of another that person may also expect something of me.
Unfortunately, I may be unable to fulfill my own expectations. I would like to do so many things but am unable to do them. Thus, I feel disappointed with myself, and aggrieved or upset with others when they fail to satisfy our expectations. The message is that, one should accept the fact and then change if necessary, but don’t insist on it.

THE IMPULSIVE PRESIDENT & HIS LOOSE TONGUE

Telling lies is an art and part of human life everyday all over the world. That is why the naughty habit is virtually synonymous with political leadership, all over the world. No political leader can ever come clean completely as things are to the people. When therefore any political leader sermonizes on integrity, which in itself is a form of telling lies because if critically examined, the ingredients of such platitudes comprise mostly insincerity and hypocrisy.

Therefore any public office holder telling lies, especially at the highest level of authority, must at least try to perfect his act.

Mohamed Nasheed (Golhaa Anni) and his administration have a well-documented difficulty with honesty. President Nasheed lies frequently. He distorts the truth, changes the facts, changes the Law & Order, and smirks all the while. He lies both outrageously obvious and impulsively. Lies include: Building flats; Giving “Masdhoani” as a gift ; decreasing the price of water, electricity, food items ,300million dollars within 15 to 20 day of taking over the government, the use and abuse of religion . Nasheed lied freely during presidential election campaign, and parliament campaign, and boasting about his experiences in “statecraft”. His attitude of honesty and innocence is part of his performing acts.

It’s not far from our thoughts whether Mohamed Nasheed may be the worst president we ever had in our history. Maldivians who are beginning to burn a flicker of rational hatred for Nasheed, are deeply questioning their conscious for voting for him in the first place. In fact, it may beg the question of how people could support a man whose lies have been so well documented yet ignored or discounted.


Nasheed who once pointed his finger at Maumoon for being a dictator is himself a dictator now. Maumoon was openly criticized for giving powerful and authoritative posts for his family members, relatives and friends. Openly now, Nasheed is practicing the same but for the worst, for his selection of post holders are academically low or have minimum knowledge and expertise. A dentist can comprehend that Agriculture is in a dire need of a root canal. Some of Nasheed’s closest advisors and decision makers had spent half their life roaming on streets, bored out of their skulls with low personal hygiene and cleanliness and whistling at teenage school girls.

Impulsive decision making may become a tight noose around his neck in near future. Privatizing without careful planning or thinking about cost benefit can jeopardize a nation’s limited resources. Maldives is now becoming a province of India, by providing them with stronger footholds which in five years time may make them richer than add to our revenue.


My part in writing this article is not to demonstrate myself as a hard core Maumoon supporter, but from the point of a Maldivian with concerns for the nation’s directions. I witnessed a media interview where Nasheed (Anni) then an MDP activist running for presidency stated that “Just think what will happen if you place a sword in the hands of a crazy man.” I believed that he was strongly referring to Maumoon, but could it be perhaps he spoke about himself?


I’m sure readers will have come across the book published by IDP about the lies of the president Nasheed. Lies big and small are documented in the book and provide a powerful indictment of a man who not only appears to lie completely, but appears to do it without conscience. It lays out Nasheed‘s recorded words, and respected sources that are frequently cited


This book is essential to understand for every Maldivian who now is in the mood to bash Nasheed, and who wants to have the facts to back up their anti- Nasheed‘s arguments. Well researched, well sourced, and well written, lies exposed covers a multitude of lies told by Nasheed and his administration simply because it is so comprehensive, and so well sourced. A must have resource for anyone interested in analyzing the Nasheed presidency.

Child abusers should be hanged.

The roar of the human rights should be shunned when it comes to child abusers. Why worry about their rights when they destroy the life and De-humanize the innocent victims? The abused children suffer for the rest of their lives while the abuser gets jailed, where it's more of a holiday resort; too much rights, free food and services and also free to molest and rape the the other jail birds. Is this a worthy punishment?

The abused children grow up in fear of a normal sexual life. They lack self confidence and often they understand that such acts will only provide them with security and love. Hence, they tend to follow the path that they were forced into. The victims have their unfortunate and horrid experiences etched into their consciousness. Unpleasant and painful memories of such are remembered by children through out their lives. When the innocent gets to deal with it every single day of their lives, why should the abuser get a holiday in jail?

For once, why can't we hang them in public? I say we should all stand up for the rights of the children and hang the sick bastards!
